Hi , I was born at Pingelly , raised on a farm at east Pingelly and know most of the old ORIGINAL families of the area. I fortunately was brought up with a keen interest in the heritage of both families and the area surrounding. Many of my ancestors and their descendants are buried at Pingelly and the surrounding towns.
It may be of interest that the Shaddick mentioned in the Narrogin narrative that shepherded his sheep from Mourambine as far as Narrogin, still has a great grandson farming at Mourambine, Stephen Leake. Stephen's Grandmother was my aunt.
Another lonely grave that may be of interest to you or some researcher can be found in a reserve at what was MARKAGIN (not sure of the spelling ) but it is about 18 mile east of Pingelly at BARNETTS cross roads. It is about 50 metres from the road on the S.E. corner of that cross roads in the reserve. As a boy I remember it having a fence around it. Originally ( until about 1954/5 ) there was a hall on the SW of that same cross roads. I think there was a headstone on the grave from memory. VERY VERY few people would even be aware of its existence. There is also a family grave site at West Pingelly on the north Wandering road at an old homestead , but I am sorry , I would have to go there to direct someone to it. I am not sure , but I think I have a vague recollection of there being a couple of graves opposite the old Aldersyde hall.
BARNETTS cross roads is on the PINGELLY / ALDERSYDE road. If you are trying to find it , I am sure someone could direct you to BOB BARNETT's ( or his son Milton's ) old farm. The cross roads is 400 /500 metres south of their home. If you ever come across any information regarding CHARLES McGENNISKIN buried at Narrogin 10 th May 1924 I would be extremely appreciative, he is part of my family , though I am absolutely puzzled as to what he was doing at Narrogin. He was from Hamilton in Victoria , and his family ( wife and children ) as far as I know never ever left there. She remarried and continued on their farm.
