General Notes: Arrived in WA on 25th December 1860 aboard the "Escort". It took 5 months to sail out and the ship's cook died on board. Edward Ralph cooked for one pound a week for convicts.

Sarah was born on 13 Jun 1838 in Chimbhams, Farningham, Kent, England, was christened on 15 Jul 1838 in West Kingsdown, Kent, England, died on 13 Nov 1919 in Middle Swan, Western Australia, Australia  at age 81, and was buried on 15 Nov 1919 in Culham, Toodyay, Western Australia, Australia.  The cause of her death was Senile Decay and Chronic Bronchitis & Syncope. They had 11 children: Edward, Sarah Ann, Emily Elizabeth Ween, James, Benjamin, Mary Jane, William, Rose Ellen, John Jack, Louisa, and Christina Naomi.
Marriage Notes: When Edward and Sarah arrived in Western Australia, they worked on farms in the Toodyay District before purchasing their own property at Bejoording.
Sarah and Edward worked for Ewen Mackintosh, apparently taking the place of the Cousins (Sarah's sister and husband).
The Ralphs brought lot 62 in 1867 in Bejoording.
Edward then went to work for Squire Phillips who shepherded the sheep on the Squires property he usually returned home daily, leaving the sheep for the night in the bush fold, guarded by a dog. Wheat was grown on the property and when it was harvested it was taken by horse and cart to the Flour Mill at Northam. A few days later they would return to the Mill and pick up the bags of flour. Hay was cut by a manually operated Chaff Cutter for stock feed. Pigs where kept either to be sold or slaughtered and made into hams, which were hung up in the chimney to be smoked. A cow was killed now and again and the meat would be shared around with close neighbours as there was no way of keeping it fresh for any length of time

Sarah was 7 months pregnant when she arrived in Western Australia Sarah and her daughters had numerous chores to complete each day Milking Cows Cutting Chaff and feeding the Horses and Pigs and tending to the vegetable garden. Cleaning the house, make bread from their own flour which was ground from their own wheat, made butter from cream, made sausages from kangaroos and rabbit meat and made parrot soup and parrot pies. With such a large family the household duties would have been endless thank god she had 6 girls to help. Sarah eventually went and lived with Rose Ellen in Middle Swan.
