to the Mill and pick up the bags of flour. Hay was cut by a manually
operated Chaff Cutter for stock feed. Pigs where kept either to be sold
or slaughtered and made into hams, which were hung up in the chimney to
be smoked. A cow was killed now and again and the meat would be shared
around with close neighbours as there was no way of keeping it fresh
for any length of time

sausages from kangaroos and rabbit meat and made parrot soup and parrot
pies. With such a large family the household duties would have been
endless thank god she had 6 girls to help. Sarah eventually went and
lived with Rose Ellen in Middle Swan.
