John Berry Wallace was a baker and he went to Western Australia as a prospector looking for gold with his brother Alexander Wallace
Their parents are buried in Eastern Geelong, Victoria, Australia. Records numbered 637 and 93524.
I am the daughter of David Thomas Wallace, grand-daughter of Arthur Edward Wallace and great-grand-daughter of John Berry Wallace.

","John MC LOUGHLIN, along with his wife Johanna (nee ONEIL, were the proprietors of the Exchange Hotel, Southern Cross (wich is no longer in use).
John and his young children, James Peter and Lillian Mary, were victims of Typhoid Fever and died witin days of each other 7 April 1911.
They were buried in the Southern Cross Cemetery. The family gravestone still stands.

Anne SEARLE was my GG Grandmother.
She was nursing the sick during the plague of Black Flu she succumbed to the disease herself and died.
She was born in the Jeramongup area, the daughter of Robert GAMBLE and Eliza.
Her husband whom she married when she was just 14 years old was a convict, William SEARLE.
At the time of her death in Southern Cross, Williiam was contract carting Sandalwood between Southern Cross and Coolgardie with their eldest daughters husband, Dick BURRIDGE, and their son, George BURRIDGE.
William SEARLE and Margaret (Maggie) SEARLE (nee MAHER) buried at Narrogin were William and Anne SEARLEs Son and Daughter in law. Maggie was the daughter of John and Catherine MAHER (nee MC GOUGH). John MAHER is buried in Albany and Catherine MAHER (nee MC GOUGH) is buried at Wagin.

She married William DOUGLAS at a time and place as yet unknown to us.
Her father was George WISE, her mother JULIA (nee O’LEARY)
Caroline died from FEVER aged 23 years.
At the time of her death she was Mother to William George born 1887 (3 years and 8 months old) and Wilfred Ernest born 1890 (7 months old).
Wilfred Ernest was Killed In Action WW1 14-16 August 1915 at Pozieres, Somme Sector, France. He has no known grave.
William George married IVY M SMITH in 1919 and they had 3 children - William Charles, Eileen M and Dorothy M.
William died in 1963 aged 76 years.
Caroline’s husband, George, subsequently married Caroline’s sister, ANNIE MAY and they produced a further 7 children between the years of 1893 and 1913.

Clearly the family lived in Southern Cross from around 1861 to 1898. How lovely it would be to know some of their history from there but it appears all records were lost during a fire in a hall in the 1830s.
