The children of Eleazar Jones and Rose McGlinn.
1. Frederick Charles (Fred) Jones. Born 1889 in Richmond, Melbourne.
After moving to Narrogin in WA with his parents he later married Ivy Florence McGorlick. He and Ivy took up residence in Northwood Street Narrogin in a house built by Ivys father.
Fred was employed with the then government railway as a porter at Narrogin station.
He enlisted in the AIF for the first world war at age 27 on October 2nd 1916. He was with the 46th Battalion in action in the trenches in France in August 1917, then after some time he was removed to a military hospital in Boulogne with infected feet and trench fever. His was a bad case, and he was sent back to a base hospital in England. Shortly after he was diagnosed with pleurisy, and that was the end of Freds war. He was medically reclassified and transferred to the 1st Australian Command Depot in England, eventually being promoted to Corporal near the end of the war. He was again hospitalised with pleurisy immediately after the armistice of November 11th 1918, then placed on a ship back to Australia a month later. He was finally discharged from the army as an invalid on March 7th 1919.
After the war Fred resumed his career with the railways. (He went on to become a train guard.)
He and Ivy soon had two daughters named Maisie and Grace.
Freds father Eleazar (who had taken up the Seventh Day Adventist religion) passed away in April 1927. Several months later Ivy gave birth to their first son, Keith. This child died suddenly in May the following year, when just nine months old, and was buried in the Methodist section of Narrogin cemetery. After these stressful events Fred also converted to the Seventh Day Adventist church and went through something of a crisis in his life. Some years later he and Ivy had a second son, Roy, who grew up and eventually lived in a house directly behind them in Fox Street.
Fred died in 1983 at the age of 95, and Ivy lived on after him until 1992, when she passed away at 97. They are buried beside each other in the Seventh Day Adventist section of Narrogin cemetery.
