"] Text[5]=["ASHBY","It is with deep regret that we announce the sad demise of Mrs. H. Ashby,
who succumbed on the 7th Inst, in consequence of heart failure following on an internal complaint from which she had been a sufferer at the local hospital for some months past.
The late Mrs. Ashby was a fine young woman and on the occasion of her marriage some little time back one would readily have taken a lease of her life, so strong and virile was her appearance. Her death comes as a terrible blow to her husband and relatives, and has occasioned feelings of the deepest sorrow in the hearts of all who knew her.
The funeral took place on Wednesday, the body being interred in the Baptist portion of the cemetery. Owing to the unavoidable absence of the Revd. Kennedy, the service was conducted by Mr. H. Manning and Mr. F. Wald carried out the last sad duties in his usual efficient manner.
The attendance at the graveside was very large and representative of the agricultural industry, the following well-known farmers acting as pall bearers
J. Ashby, E Wiese, A. H. Trefort, R. R. Wiese and G. Holdaway.
Numerous beautiful wreaths were laid on the grave

"] Text[6]=["William ARGENT","The late Mr. William Argent was born in Two Wells, South Australia, on 14th April 1882, and was the second of Frederick Thomas and Eliza Argent.
In 1892 the family moved to Warracknabeal (Victoria), where after leaving school he worked on farms. By saving as much as possible he was able, in 1902, to commence farming and contracting. In 1904 he went to Lake Bolac district where he engaged in farming activities until 1910, the year he decided to come to W.A.
He purchased a farm on the Hotham River south of Wandering, which at the time was uncleared and running only 200 sheep. In the course of a few years, virgin land was turned into a prosperous farm with substantial buildings.
In 1927 he left the district and went to East Kulin, where he built up a prosperous farm. His two sons, Roland and Gilbert, will carry on this property in addition to their own.
About seven years ago he retired to live in the city at South Perth, but being unable to settle there, he purchased a home in Narrogin in 1952.
He always took an active interest in the affairs of the community in which he resided. He was a member of the Wandering Road Board for many years and was untiring in his efforts to have the Railway line extended from Dwarda to Narrogin, and later the line extended from Lake Grace to Hyden.
He was a prominent exhibiter at the Wandering and Kulin shows. It will be recalled that on once occasion at Wandering, the appointed judge could not attend through illness, so Mr Argent withdrew his entries in the stock section and acted as judge. He also travelled long distances in order to judge livestock in other country shows.
He was well-respected, being well-known for his honesty and integrity. In 1906 he married Sarah Jane Sherwell. They had twelve children (nine of whom are living), twenty four grandchildren and two great-grand children.
He was buried in the Methodist portion of the Narrogin cemetery where a large number of friends gathered to pay their last respects.
Pall bearers were: Messrs F Parry, A Riseborough, R Farrell, H Nicholls, C Stone and P Warburton.
