Information provided by Barbara Wilson - mustangsite1@wn.com.au"] Text[8]=["",""] Text[9]=["MC CANN, William - Information provided by John - mauron@bigpond.net.au","son of John and Mary McCann, was born in Geraldton, WA on 13 March 1873 and, according to a death notice inserted in The West Australian by his 'loving nieces and nephews of Mt Lawley' on 14 December 1945, died in Donnybrook, WA on 10 December 1945.
Will, as he was known, was a teamster before enlisting in the 10th Light Horse Regiment, 16th Reinforcement on 4 January 1916 and serving in the Middle East. He returned to Australia on 29 April 1919 and never married. Towards the end of World War II, Will lived for a period with his niece Kath James (nee Brennan) and her husband Jim on their farm at Bullsbrook. Jim was stationed at RAAF Pearce.
A photo of him is to be included in a history of the 10th Light Horse Regiment in World War I to be published in Perth in late 2011. Neville Browning is the author.
